Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination they must attempt a harrowing escape.

Somebody please kill this franchise. Please. Prometheus gave us a hint of hope, and Covenant dashed it to pieces. The only other franchise more poorly managed is the Fantastic Four. Not even Ridley Scott can save his own creation at this point. It's not horror. It's not thriller. It's not action. And it's not art, for sure. It's painful. "Look on my works, ye Mightly, and despair." I do. Trust me. I do.
  • Movie franchise “Mold-Breaker”

Usually, when a movie franchise reaches fifth or sixth from the original they get pretty ridiculous...i.e. Rambo or Rocky or Halloween. In many, many instances the original “first” films tend to be great but the studio attempts to squeeze every drop for as long as they can. We have witnessed no less than four Alien titles as well as two more Alien-related stories in the Predator series and most recently we were subjected to Prometheus. But along comes this gem, it was IMHO two hours well spent. This film is set approx 10 years after Prometheus. SPOILER ALERT: the “sibling” characters portrayed by Michael Fassbender as David & Walter are the most thought-provoking aspect. Especially, in light of our current technological forays into artificial intelligence, robotics and space exploration. In other words, the visual depictions within ALIEN: Covenant might actually happen in the foreseeable future. I really liked this film!

  • Great Literary References!

Whoever wrote the screenplay really payed attention in english class! I thought the incorporation of 'Ozymandius' fit perfectly in that scene!
  • Disastrously misguided

Not only is this a terrible movie in it's own right, it seems to go out of it's way to undermine and weaken the themes and questions in both Prometheus and the greater Alien franchise. It answers questions nobody asked (and the answers are spectacularly riduculous) while failing to explore it's own themes or those introduced in Prometheus. Covenent is, far and away, the worst entry in this franchise to date. Worse than Alien: Resurrection, worse than Alien v Predator, and worse than Alien 3. Not only is not a good movie, it soils the entire franchise.

Im at a loss to see why this movie was a thing. There was something about it that bored the hell out of me. I'll give it a second try sometime.

  • Good movie but paced

It is a good movie and with a lead bad guy who is not an alien. It is a bit long. It has an ending that is different than the others in this franchise and, while I will no doubt see the third movie in the prequel trilogy when it comes out, but I admit that I would like to eventually see an Alien VII that takes place at the end of the timeline and finally provides closure.
